Design of fixtures and grippers

We design clamping fixtures and robot grippers for body-in-white – for new stations, model changes and the modification of existing equipment. On request, we validate the design directly in robot simulation.

When

When to involve us

  • New station or new line together with an integrator or equipment builder
  • Model change or new derivative on an existing line
  • Modification or upgrade of existing fixtures and grippers
  • Capacity bottleneck in your own design department

Scope

What we design

Fixtures

  • Geometry, respot, checking, rework, sealing and glass-setting fixtures
  • Locating concept with pins, NC blocks and rest pads according to RPS
  • Pneumatic and manual clamps, clamping sequence
  • Base frame, floor fixing and media (compressed air, vacuum, 24 V)
  • Interference contours, loading and unloading, operator ergonomics

Grippers

  • Handling grippers between stations and for closures such as doors, bonnets and tailgates
  • Geometry and transfer grippers
  • Glass grippers for windshield bonding with vacuum cups, form nests, sensors and adhesive clearance
  • Flange and tool changer interface, payload check
  • Part presence detection and vacuum monitoring

Approach

From enquiry to finished design

What we need

What we need from you

  • Part data (CAD, with PMI where available) and locating plan or RPS
  • Your design guidelines and standard parts catalogues
  • Station layout, robot type and tooling

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which CAD system do you design in?

We work in CATIA, Siemens NX and Autodesk Inventor and follow your standard, templates and standard parts.

Do you take on partial scopes?

Yes. You can order individual fixtures or grippers, only the concept or only the drawing derivation.

How do you handle confidential data?

On request, we work under NDA and exchange data via the channel you specify.

Discuss your project

Send us a short description, photos or existing data – via the form or to info@grabet.eu. We will get back to you with an initial assessment of scope, approach and timing.
