Modification and change documentation

Modifying an existing fixture is often faster and cheaper than building a new one – provided the modification is properly planned and documented. We describe the path from current to target state so that workshop and maintenance teams can implement it unambiguously.

When

Typical occasions

  • New part or derivative on an existing fixture
  • Changed locators, clamps or robot interface
  • Process change, for example a new joining sequence
  • Reuse of fixtures at another site

Approach

From current state to target state

  1. Current stateSurvey, by 3D scan if needed
  2. ChangeModification design and assessment
  3. ValidationOptional in simulation
  4. Target stateUpdated design
  5. DocumentationChange list, disassembly and assembly instructions
  6. HandoverUpdated drawings and bill of materials

Deliverables

What you receive

  1. Documentation of the current state
  2. Modification design and target state
  3. Change list with all affected parts
  4. Disassembly and assembly instructions
  5. Updated drawings and bill of materials
  6. Optional: validation of the change in simulation

What we need

What we need from you

  • Existing documents for the fixture, where available
  • New part or changed process requirements
  • Access to the fixture if a scan is needed

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What if there are no documents for the fixture?

Then we start with a 3D scan and an as-built CAD model – see 3D scanning & reverse engineering.

Do you support the modification itself?

We deliver the design and documentation and are available to the workshop and maintenance teams for questions during the modification.
